Tournament Volunteer Sign Up

It's Tournament Time Again!

The 2007 FSC Tournament, July 6th-8th, is around the corner and we are anticipating another successful weekend! As you know, each team family is expected to volunteer to help out at the tournament, and we are counting on you to participate.

The sign up process will be completed through the Fairport Soccer Club Tournament website. Parents of each player must go to the website and sign up for their first and second choice volunteer assignments. Parents with more than one player in the program must sign up under each player. Please sign up even if you happen to be on vacation that week. We need to track info for every player.

Head coaches and their families are not required to volunteer at the tournament. Everyone else, including Managers, Assistant Coaches & FSC Board Members will be assigned to work up to 2 two-hour shifts, with the exception of the Tournament Committee, as they will be volunteering for the entire weekend.

We will try to accommodate all choices, however you may be assigned a job you did not sign up for due to the over 500 job slots we need to fill.

Thanks for your help!

Please review the following Volunteer Positions and indicate your 1st and 2nd Preferences for each shift. If you’d like to work more than 2 shifts, please let us know – we will graciously accept your extra support!

Tournament dates are July 6, 7, and 8

Club Store: We need enthusiastic financially responsible people to help sell Fairport Soccer Club merchandise. T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, and other items are just some of the things you can help sell for the tournament. The Club Store is headquartered at Martha Brown and will also be set up in Center Park West.

Concert Staffing: We need people for security, parking staff before the concert, to staff a small concessions booth during the concert, and to help clean-up after the concert.

Concessions: Customer service is important when selling drinks and candy in the FSC Concession tent or in a roving concession cart. Counting change is a plus. The cold drinks need to be kept cold, and the candy well stocked. Concessions are sold beginning Friday evening, all day Saturday and ending Sunday Afternoon. You may be asked to work at Martha Brown or at the Center Park West Fields.

Daily Set-Up/Clean-Up: You don't have to deal with the crowds if you want this position. As one would expect, set-up duties center around the concession stand, field equipment and parking lot marking. Clean-up activities include helping to pack up the concession stand, refuse totes, and scanning the fields for debris that may have been left by players and spectators. We will need help at all locations.

Field Marshal: The job of the Field Marshals is to make sure the fields are in good playing condition and that the teams and referees are present for an on-time start. During the games, they are the primary communications link to tournament headquarters for maintenance and emergencies, using their personal cell phone. After the games, the official game cards need to be immediately returned for scoring. Field Marshals need to check in 30 min. prior to their scheduled volunteer time where they are given a binder with instructions and assigned game field(s). Field Marshals may be assigned to work at any of the tournament locations.

Field Setup / Takedown: This job requires the delivery and placement of corner flags at the fields, a visual inspection of nets to ensure they are staked and ready for play as well as a check for general field cleanliness at the beginning of each tournament day. The corner flags will be collected at the end of each tournament day. You may be asked to set up or take down at any of the tournament locations.

Guest Assistance: We need a few people to drive the Helping Hands golf carts at two of our remote fields (FHS and Northside) as well as at Martha Brown -- to assist fans who cannot make it up some of the hills, teams who cannot find their fields, etc. Volunteers for this job will look to assist and direct teams and fans.

Medical: The Fairport Volunteer Ambulance Corps will provide primary First Aid coverage, but we need a limited number of qualified volunteers to help, as well. If you are a nurse, a doctor, or an EMT and are willing to assist in the First Aid tent, we need a few volunteers to provide coverage at the beginning and end of each day.

Overnight Security: Having at least 3 people on-site 24 hours a day provides a sense of security to the HQ area and eliminates the need to pack up the tournament site each night. This position requires a flashlight and gets the most requests from veterans who volunteer to do it again with the same "Security Team." It is a fun job, it just has odd hours. Six, 2-hour shifts will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday Nights, starting at 8 PM going through the night.

Parking: Directing traffic, helping people find convenient parking spaces, and sporting a florescent orange vest are some of the benefits enjoyed by Parking Volunteers. Parking volunteers help attendees find spots primarily on the Martha Brown Hill and make sure the flow of traffic is safe and orderly. Parking volunteers will only be scheduled at Martha Brown.

Special Events: Volunteers are needed to run the shoot-out event for the U10 and younger players. Volunteers are also needed to get the awards ready for presentation after the championship games. These jobs take place at Martha Brown.

Volunteer Pool: This position requires you to report to Martha Brown Headquarters for your assignment. Here you will be asked to help out in any areas that are in need at the moment, ie: Concessions, Parking, Field Marshal, on-going clean-up, etc. at any of the tournament locations.

All attempts will be made to accommodate your preferences, but the Tournament Committee is responsible to ensure all volunteer positions are filled. You may be assigned to a position you didn’t choose.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
